The Nanny Effect

Just like the butterfly effect, nannies have an effect on their charges each time they care for them and it will cause positive ripples throughout many areas of their lives. When you interact with a child you have the opportunity to leave them with some of your knowledge, skills and love. Additionally, the support you provide to the parents can make a huge impact on their parenting journey as well as their work/life balance. Being a nanny is more than a job, you help make people's lives better each and every day. Love-Your draw to work with children stems from the love you share with them each day. Love is essential to humans and as a nanny, you have a unique opportunity to impact a child's life in a big way. One special day with a caregiver can give a child a gift that can affect them long after you leave.

Support-As a nanny you aid in supporting the family unit, giving the parents a much-needed break for self-care, work, fun, or just some adult time. Being a parent can be so rewarding but every good parent needs some time to recharge so they can be their best selves for the children. Your support helps make this happen!

Teach- Every moment you spend with children you have the opportunity to teach them something. Whether it be manners when interacting with others, learning to clean up after themselves after lunch or actually sitting down and teaching them their letters, numbers or colors. Children cherish the one one-on-one time and special attention you are able to give them when you are caring for them.

Learn-Spending time with children allows you the opportunity to learn as well. Each child you meet can teach you something, whether it be about their culture or beliefs, how they view the world or a new game or activity. Don't forget to listen and validate the children because you never know what you can learn.

Grow-Just as you help each child grow into themselves with your love and support, each new child you meet helps you grow as well. You will learn new skills, how to deal with different situations and how to support different types of children and families. Every encounter matters and contributes to your growth.
