What type of childcare services does Joanna’s Nannies Agency provide?

If you can think of it, we can do it. Any time you need any type of childcare, we are happy to set it up for you. We specialize in short-term on-call placements, postpartum doula care, wedding and event childcare. However, if you need a travel nanny, overnight nanny, or long term nanny we can either find one for you or refer to a great company that can.

Where do you find your nannies and how do you screen them?

The majority of our nannies are referred to us by word of mouth, either from our existing nannies or clients. Occasionally we will advertise for nannies, but all of our nannies must go through the same rigorous screening process. In order to be considered to work with Joanna’s Nannies, the nanny must have at least 3 years experience with children, be CPR & First Aid Certified and have great references. If we like all of the nanny’s qualifications, we will set up an interview and call references.  Once we decide to work with a candidate, they must pass a background check. Our nannies have also gone through the Trustline Background Check which includes FBI fingerprinting.

What ages of children do you care for and how do you match the nannies?

Joanna’s Nannies are happy to care for any age child from newborn to teens. We will place you with the best qualified nanny or babysitter for your child or children. All of our nannies are very qualified and we would never send you a nanny that didn’t feel comfortable with your particular age group. Also, we can usually place you with the same nanny every time, especially if you give us advance notice (at least one week). We also do part-time and full-time regularly scheduled nannies through our membership program. For infants under 12 months, we have infant specialists available.  Infant specialists have experience with infants under 6 months and have gone through our own infant specialist certification. Our certification covers all aspects of infant care from feeding, soothing and diapering to infant safety and age appropriate activities.  Most of our infant specialists also have experience with twins and multiples so you can feel comfortable leaving your little ones with them. Some of our nannies have also taken a postpartum doula or newborn care specialist course.

Where will you care for my children and what are your hours?

Joanna’s Nannies will come to you, whether it is your residence, hotel, vacation home or event venue. If you are traveling from out of town, let us know and we will bring a bag of toys and activities to entertain your children while you are out. For weddings and events we will always bring a variety of activities to entertain the children. Please visit our Weddings and Events page for more information. Joanna’s Nannies are available anytime of the day to meet your childcare needs. We usually do not start earlier than 7am or end later than 2am but we are flexible if you need a nanny for additional or overnight hours. Our booking office is available 6 days a week (closed on Sundays) during the hours of 10am and 6pm. If we are unable to answer your call, we will call you back as soon as possible. Can the nanny assist with additional household tasks such as cleaning, laundry & errands?

The highest priority of Joanna’s Nanny is to ensure the children are engaged, safe, and well cared for. Housekeeping is not included in our duties. Our expectations for a Joanna's Nanny is to clean up after themselves and the children. This includes returning toys to storage bins (or organizing them in a nice pile if they do not have homes) and cleaning up after meals (put any dishes you use in the dishwasher, sink rinsed out or washed and putting away leftover foods). Extra housework and assignments beyond that are not expected

Can we request a particular nanny or interview our assigned nanny beforehand?

Yes! You are always welcome to request a particular nanny, and with advance notice we can usually book that nanny for you if they are available. We usually do not have the families conduct interviews with the nanny (except for membership placements) because Joanna’s Nannies has already done this for you and the nannies don’t have time to meet every family they work for, especially during the busy seasons. Our nannies do call you ahead of time to check in so you can do a mini phone interview and give any instructions then. If you are nervous about leaving your children with a new nanny, you can book the nanny to come earlier than you need to leave so your children have time to meet the nanny and you can show her your routines. You can always view your nannies profile on our website ahead of time so you know who to expect.

Are there any additional fees on top of the booking fee and hourly rate?

Joanna’s Nannies tries to avoid additional fees. We do have rush fees for jobs booked last minute (within 48 hours for temp care and 1 month for events). You may also encounter a travel fee if we do not have a nanny available in your area and we need to send one from another location (or your location is outside of our service area). Click here to view our service areas.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require full payment to confirm services. Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel so we can try and get your nanny booked for another job. Our nannies count on the jobs and the hours they are booked for and it is difficult to restaff them last minute. A full refund (minus booking fees) will be available if you cancel more than 72 hours (30 days for group childcare/events) in advance. If you cancel within 72 hours (30 days for group childcare/events) there will be no refunds. If you are reducing the hours within the cancellation window that counts as a cancellation and will not be refunded (ie if you come home earlier than expected).
