All across the country, the temperatures are beginning to cool, the leaves are starting to turn colors, and pumpkin spice is in the air. For many families in California, fall is an excellent time for fun outings and seasonal activities. Read on to learn about some fun and unique San Francisco fall activities to take in with your family in the coming months.

Sporting Events

For sports fans, one of the most amazing things is the variety of sporting events that are available for San Francisco fall activities. Major League Baseball is wrapping up the regular season and there is nothing quite like a playoff game at AT&T Park or Alameda Coliseum. Football fans may want to take the kids to a 49ers or Raiders game to cheer on the home team. However, if you are more interested in round ball, the Warriors also tip off their season on October 17th.

Fleet Week

San Francisco’s Fleet Week is an annual event celebrating America’s sea service men and women through various events. One of the biggest attractions is the parade of ships where several Naval and Coast Guard vessels “parade” under the Golden Gate Bridge and along the waterfront. Many of those ships are available to tour throughout the week and all tours are free but there are specific rules for conduct onboard so prepare accordingly. Over the weekend, they host the Airshow featuring the US Navy’s Blue Angels and the Canadian Snowbirds.

Halloween Special Events

Halloween brings with it a ton of San Francisco fall activities and the Creatures of the Nightlife at the California Academy of Sciences transforms the museum into a “spine-tingling, supernatural tribute to '80s horror movies.” They do allow costumes and masks on the premises during the event but there are some rules that must be adhered to shown on their website. The Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz, CA is also a fun place to visit with kids to observe the bizarre and unsettling demonstrations that are shown as a result of the gravitational anomaly that exists there.
