San Diego Fall Activities
There is nothing quite like San Diego in the fall and it is the perfect time of year to get out for some fun family time. There are a variety of rich fall traditions to enjoy in and around San Diego. Join us on this journey as we take a look at some of our favorite San Diego Fall Activities.
Located approximately 30 miles north of San Diego, Bates Nut Farm is one of our favorite San Diego Fall Activities because it transports you and your family back to a simpler time. The farm features picnic and park areas, the farm zoo, and a down-home environment, all set against the backdrop of some of California’s most beautiful scenery. If you and your family enjoy sweets, you will love their old-fashioned candy counter with more than 25 feet of counter space filled with a number of candies and gourmet delights including homemade fudge. This short drive from town is sure to be a great time for the whole family
Located at the corner of Fourth & Market in downtown San Diego, this attraction was named by Haunt World Magazine as one of the 13 haunted houses in America. As the longest-running haunted house in the city, it is easy to see why the Haunted Hotel is one of our favorite San Diego Fall Activities. This year’s theme includes a zombie-infested alley, an insane Clown Subway, and the Twisted Torture Temple but the theme changes each year so it is worth checking out each and every fall. It should be noted that the Haunted Hotel is not recommended for children under the age of 10 and pregnant women, infants, or children being carried will not be allowed entry.
The largest parade in San Diego County takes place each fall in El Cajon with more than 100 parade entries from around the country. This colorful parade is the “largest of its type west of the Mississippi” and is sure to delight spectators of all ages. The pageantry and splendor of the parade has been enjoyed for over 70 years and is why it is a part of our collection of favorite San Diego Fall Activities.
Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas
The last entry on our list of favorite San Diego fall cities is the seasonal live performance of a holiday classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” The beloved story by the famous Dr. Suess is told in a musical format as the Old Globe Theatre is transferred into a replica of the snowy Whoville. The show is designed to be kid-friendly and children under the age of two are free as long as they enjoy the show from the lap of a parent or guardian.
