Fun Fourth of July Food

Happy Independence Day, America! Celebrate the holiday by making fun Fourth of July food for or with your little ones. In this blog, we are going over four fun red, white, and blue-themed snacks for you and your family.

American Flag Fruit Skewers

Fruit skewers are always a party favorite, so if you’re throwing a BBQ or Fourth of July party, make sure you add these to your menu. They will add color to your platters and are incredibly quick to make. Kids who are old enough to handle skewers can even get in on the action with you. If you are making several skewers or having a party, you can make a flag out of the skewer design. It’s a great time to teach your little one about what the colors, stars, and stripes stand for!

Festive Fourth of July Fruit Salad

Fruit skewers aren’t up your alley or your kids are too little to eat fruit off a skewer, try making a festive Fourth of July fruit salad. Using a variety of fruits that are red, white, and blue in color will make a quick and healthy snack for you and your kids. Some fruits you can consider adding to the salad include raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and chopped apples. If you are using apples or bananas you can add a little bit of lemon juice to prevent them from turning brown.

Patriotic Popsicles

Although it’s not supposed to be terribly hot this Fourth of July, it’s still a great excuse to make popsicles with your little ones. You can use a variety of fruits or organic juices and yogurt to make the red, white, and blue layers for the patriotic pops. If you have a Zuku popsicle maker, don’t forget to put it in the freezer now! If you have a regular popsicle mold, you can make popsicles in the morning so you can enjoy them with your family later in the afternoon.

Fun Fourth of July Food Yogurt Parfaits

Fourth of July yogurt parfaits are a great way to start your day with a colorful bang! Using plain, vanilla, or coconut yogurt layered with strawberries or raspberries and blueberries makes a quick and healthy breakfast. It’s so simple that even toddlers can get in on the action. If your little ones are old enough, you can use breakfast as an opportunity to talk to them about what the Fourth of July is all about.
